At our latest women’s meeting at Home of Jesus the King Church, we had a truly special moment that beautifully demonstrated the power of unity among the women in our congregation. We gathered together to prepare fresh salads, but this wasn’t just about making a meal — it became a powerful and Spirit-led moment that illustrated what it means to come together as one body in Christ.
Each woman brought her own vegetables to the table—tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, peppers, and much more. As we added each ingredient, it was a reminder of the diversity that makes us who we are. Each vegetable has its own unique flavor, color, texture, and function. Some are crunchy, some are juicy, and others have a little bit of a kick. It reminded us so much of the body of Christ. Just like each of us has our own background, gifts, and personality, we’re all different, and yet we come together to create something beautiful.
On our own, these ingredients are good, but when we mix them together with olive oil (a symbol of the Holy Spirit) and lemon juice (representing the work of our hands), something amazing happens — a vibrant, flavorful, and unified salad is born. It was such a beautiful picture of how we, as the body of Christ, are uniquely created to work together in harmony. Alone, we’re good, but together, under the influence of the Holy Spirit, we become something so much more—something that reflects His love, grace, and unity.
This simple yet powerful activity really brought to life what Paul shares in 1 Corinthians 12:12-14. In those verses, Paul talks about how the body of Christ is made up of many parts, all working together in harmony. Whether you’re an “outer” part or an “inner” part, your role is valuable, purposeful, and essential. There’s no part that’s more important than another — every part is necessary for the whole body to function as it should. When we come together, no matter how different we may seem, we reflect the fullness of Christ’s body and bring glory to Him.
In addition to this beautiful moment of unity, the meeting was filled with powerful times of prayer, worship, and teaching. We spent time lifting our voices in praise to God, seeking His presence through prayer, and encouraging one another with the Word. It was a refreshing time for us all — a time to recharge spiritually, to deepen our connection with one another, and to feel the presence of God moving in our midst.
We are so grateful for what God is doing among the women at HomeJTK. The unity, love, and encouragement that is growing among them is a testimony of His work in their lives. We truly believe that when we stand together in unity, each of us contributing our unique gifts and strengths, we become a powerful force for His kingdom.
Let’s continue to walk in unity, love, and harmony, serving one another with joy and purpose. As we do, we’ll see God do amazing things among us and in our community, shining His light in ways that only He can.
