As families across Israel prepare for the start of the new school year, a very different reality is unfolding for many Arab and Jewish households still grappling with the aftermath of war, financial loss, and ongoing uncertainty.
Instead of joyfully shopping for school supplies, many parents are facing a painful question: How will we afford even the basics?
Here at Home of Jesus the King Church, we’ve seen this need firsthand—and we’re responding with action and compassion through our Back-to-School Project. This initiative is simple, yet deeply impactful: providing children in need with brand-new backpacks filled with all the essential supplies to start their school year with confidence and hope.
Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve already equipped 100 children with these much-needed kits. These young students are now ready to walk into their classrooms with heads held high—backpacks on their shoulders and smiles on their faces.
But friends, we’re not done yet.
Another 200 children are still waiting. These are kids from single-parent homes, new immigrant families, and households hit hardest by recent conflict. Many of them have reached out to us directly, and we want to say “yes” to every single one.
Each backpack costs just $80 to prepare—and includes a high-quality school bag plus notebooks, pens, pencils, and other core supplies.
But more than that, each kit carries something far greater: a message that says, “You are not forgotten. You are loved.”
In fact, as families visit our aid center to collect their children’s backpacks, something beautiful often happens. They open up. They ask questions. They want to know more about who we are, what we believe, and why we care.
This project is more than a practical solution.
It’s a doorway to deeper connection, a bridge to the Gospel.
