I just love it when the Lord does miracles! It gives us a taste of the atmosphere of Heaven, and reminds us that all things are possible with Jesus in our lives. We are to be vessels carrying the glory of God in our lives, allowing His light to shine from within us unto everybody around us, ushering the reality of Christ into their lives.
The Lord recently brought us into contact with a dear family of Greek Orthodox christians in Nazareth. The parents had asked me and Nisreen to come and visit them, as they had an urgent prayer request. We were to come and lay hands on their 25-year old daughter, who was to be married in a few months, and who had been struck with cancer. She was to undergo surgery that Saturday.
It was heartbreaking to meet this precious young woman, Miriam, and to see her brokenness and fear. Her whole life was still ahead of her, with beautiful plans of getting married and having children of her own, but now the cancer diagnoses seemed to have ruined it completely.
I started ministering to Miriam, along with her entire family, about the healing power that we have in Jesus’ name, and how Jesus was wounded for our transgressions, how He was bruised for our iniquities, and of how the chastisement for our peace was upon him; and that through his stripes we are healed.
The young lady then made a decision right there and then to make right with the Lord, and to receive Him as her Lord and Savior. She gave her heart to Jesus and was born again. I then asked Miriam if she believed that Jesus still does miracles? She answered, “Yes, I do!” I told her that we were about to ask the Holy Spirit for her complete healing and physical transformation.
I then laid hands on Miriam and started praying for her, proclaiming Jesus’ healing power over her body. As I prayed for her, her body started shaking. She exclaimed that she felt something like cold water flowing from her head all the way to her toes. She was flooded by a peace she had never felt before, and it was the kind of calm that descends on a person who has found refuge in the arms of Jesus.
That Saturday after the surgery, Miriam’s mother contacted me, and excitedly told me about what had happened during the surgery. The doctors had found that the tumor that was identified through extensive testing beforehand, had somehow become nothing but a fluid-filled cyst. The procedure to remove it was simple, and without complications. What a miracle! Jesus had taken the curse, and turned it into a blessing of deliverance and healing!
The doctors were mystified by it, but we knew what had happened. We saw that God still does miracles, as it’s written in Deut. 23:5 – “However, the LORD your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the LORD your God loves you.”
When I arrived at the hospital, I continued to minister to the young lady and her family. I testified to her that the Lord has a plan for her life, and that He’s calling her unto Himself. I reinforced the fact that her healing had came from God and not from me, or any human ability.
I believe that God touched her and changed her body when we prayed for her, to replace that malignant tumor with a harmless cyst. After so many months of stress, frustration, and brokenness, Miriam could now look forward to her planned wedding and a life of growing in her faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah to the Lord!
