As the Biblical feast of Rosh Hashana approaches, we are reminded of the goodness and faithfulness of God. In Jewish tradition, Rosh Hashana—the “Head of the Year”—marks not only the beginning of the new year on the Hebrew calendar, but also a season of reflection, renewal, and the hope of new beginnings. It is a time when Jewish families gather around the table, share festive meals, and pray for blessings in the year ahead.
For us as believers in Yeshua, Rosh Hashana carries an even deeper meaning.
It points us to the coming Kingdom of God, the sound of the trumpet that will one day announce the return of our Messiah. It is both a celebration of God’s promises fulfilled in Israel and a reminder of the eternal hope we have in Yeshua.
Our Rosh Hashana Project
At Home of Jesus the King Church, we feel the urgency and the privilege of putting our faith into action during this holy season. This year, our Rosh Hashana Project aims to distribute 500 holiday food boxes filled with more than 25 essential food items, along with special holiday treats and sweets baskets, so families can celebrate this feast with joy.
Each food basket box is only $50, and a treats basket for the children and family is $40—yet the impact goes far beyond the food itself. These gifts bring dignity, joy, and the warmth of tradition to Jewish families who would otherwise struggle to celebrate Rosh Hashana properly.
This is especially meaningful for new Jewish immigrants, many of whom are still adjusting to life in Israel. Helping them connect to the land, to their heritage, and to their identity as part of the Jewish people is a blessing beyond measure. And as we do so, we long for them to encounter the true Light of Israel—Yeshua, the Messiah of Israel and the world.
A Relationship of Trust and Love
God has opened for us a wonderful door of relationship with the city hall and leadership of our neighboring Jewish town of Nof HaGalil. Over the years, they have come to know and appreciate the support we bring, thanks to our faithful partners. When they reached out this year and asked for our help in supporting needy families during Rosh Hashana, we could not refuse. Instead, we knew this was another opportunity to mobilize with the love of Jesus, to show God’s kindness in action.
