Some stories begin very simply. Not with a big moment, but with a need, a conversation, and a door that opens little by little. Nikola’s story is like this.
Nikola is 37 years old. When he first came to us at Home of Jesus the King, it was not because he was searching for faith. Like many families we meet, he was going through a difficult season and simply needed help. Through your partnership, we were able to support him and his family with practical needs—food, essentials, and care during a time that was not easy for them.
At the beginning, that was all it was. He came, received help, and spent time with us. There was no pressure, no expectations—just a relationship.
But over time, something began to grow.
As Nikola continued to come, he got to know the people here. Conversations became more open. Trust was built. What began as receiving help slowly became something more personal. He was no longer just someone visiting—he was becoming part of the family.
During this time, Nikola received a Bible. There was nothing planned about how he would read it. He simply opened it and began with the New Testament. Day after day, he continued. Then week after week. Then month after month.
And something began to change inside him.
He shared with us that he started to feel a real inner shift—not something external, but something in his heart and mind. As he kept reading, he began to understand more. Who God is. Who Yeshua is. That He is not distant, but present. That He walks with us, step by step—even through struggles, even through every fall.
In his own words, Nikola said that the Word of God became like a shield in his life. Something that had always been there, but that he had never noticed before. And now, through reading and believing, he is experiencing light, comfort, and a new kind of peace.
But what is especially precious is not only what happened in Nikola’s heart, but what happened around him.
His family also became part of our community. They found a place where they are welcomed, known, and cared for—not only in practical ways, but in relationship. In this environment, they began to experience the love of Yeshua in a way that is real and personal—not through pressure, but through presence, through care, and through time.
Today, Nikola is not just someone we helped.
