At Home of Jesus the King Church, we are blessed to walk alongside many families in need through our humanitarian aid outreach. But every once in a while, a story touches us so deeply, it reminds us all over again why this ministry matters.
This week, we want to share with you about a precious woman named Janna, a mother who has been part of our aid program for some time now. Just two weeks ago, Janna experienced a tragedy no parent should ever have to face—she lost her 17-year-old son, Immanuel, in a devastating car accident.
The car had flipped over, and they say Immanuel died instantly as his neck was broken. It was sudden. It was heartbreaking. And it left Janna and her family reeling with shock and grief.
Despite the pain, Janna came to us to share her story—and her heart—with tears in her eyes and faith in her voice. She allowed us to capture her words in a short video, where she bravely opened up about the loss of her son. She asked for continued prayers for comfort as she tries to make sense of life without him, and she also expressed deep gratitude to our partners for standing with her and helping make a difference in her life through practical and spiritual support.
She shared something that moved us all:
“His name was Immanuel—God with us. But now, he is with God.”
In the middle of her sorrow, her words were filled with such faith. She knows where her son is. She knows that she is not alone. And she knows she has a place to come—a family of faith here at Home of Jesus the King Church where she can be prayed for, encouraged, and loved.
We are so thankful for Janna’s faith and courage. Even in grief, she is a testimony of God’s sustaining grace. And it’s because of the faithful support of friends and partners like you that we are able to be here for her—and for so many others like her.
Together, we are not just giving out aid. We are giving out hope. We are showing people the love of Jesus in their darkest moments. And with your continued help, we will keep being that light.
