Over the years, our HomeJTK center has become a place of refuge for many people carrying heavy burdens. Every week, people from different backgrounds walk through our doors—Jewish and Arab, young and old, new immigrants trying to rebuild their lives, struggling families facing financial pressure, and elderly people carrying deep loneliness. Some come looking for practical support. Others simply need someone to talk to. Many arrive carrying fears, questions, grief, or quiet burdens they have been holding alone for far too long.
Again and again, we have seen how much it matters when people know there is a place where they will be welcomed with compassion, dignity, and genuine care.
What makes moments like these so meaningful is not only the help people may receive, but the human connection they experience. In a world where so many feel unseen, rushed past, or left to carry life’s hardships alone, something powerful happens when a person is simply welcomed, listened to, and treated with kindness. Over time, many have come to see our center not simply as a place they can visit, but as a safe place where they know they will be met with warmth, encouragement, and people who truly care.
Recently, one of those moments came when we met Valentina, a mother from Ukraine who came to the center carrying heartbreaking news.
As we sat with her, she shared that her baby son, only three months old, has been diagnosed with cancer in his eye. No parent is prepared to hear words like that. As she spoke, you could feel the pain and uncertainty in her heart. Like any mother, she was carrying fear, questions, and the deep anguish of watching her little child face something so serious at such a tender age. Her request was simple, honest, and deeply moving: please pray for my son. Pray that he will be healed.
In moments like these, there is not always something practical we can immediately fix. We cannot take away a mother’s fear with a few words, nor can we instantly change a difficult diagnosis. But we can be present. We can listen. We can stand beside someone in their pain and remind them that they are not alone.
So that is exactly what we did.
We gathered around Valentina, prayed with her, and entrusted her precious baby boy into the Lord’s hands. In moments like this, we are reminded that ministry is often found in the quiet, deeply human spaces—in conversations, in tears, in shared burdens, and in standing together when someone feels overwhelmed.
Today, we want to ask our HomeJTK family around the world to stand with us in prayer for Valentina and her little son. Please pray for complete healing, for wisdom for the doctors caring for him, for peace and strength in Valentina’s heart, and for God’s mercy and miraculous intervention in this precious child’s life.
These moments remind us why this ministry matters so deeply. Behind every conversation is a real person carrying a real story.
