As we step into the Biblical Fall Feast of Rosh Hashanah — the Feast of Trumpets, our hearts are full of both gratitude and urgency. This is a season when families gather to celebrate the beginning of a new year, sharing meals that symbolize hope, sweetness, and blessing. For many new Jewish immigrant families arriving from Ukraine and Russia, however, this year has been anything but sweet. They are navigating an unfamiliar land, learning a new language, and trying to rebuild their lives after being uprooted by war and hardship.
At Home of Jesus the King Church, we believe this is the perfect moment to step in with love, generosity, and the tangible expression of the Gospel. That’s why we launched our Rosh Hashanah Project—to distribute special food boxes and sweet baskets that carry not only the taste of the holiday, but also the love of God.
So far, we’ve been able to bless 300 families with these gifts, and just yesterday, 50 new families walked into our humanitarian aid center for the very first time. Their faces told the story: weariness mixed with amazement and joy. Many were deeply moved — even shocked — to see an Arab pastor and an Arab church extending love and blessing to the Jewish people. In a region so often marked by division and conflict, they could hardly believe what they were seeing: Arabs and Jews embracing one another as family, united in the love of the Messiah.
This is the Gospel in action.
In the midst of war and brokenness, God is building bridges of reconciliation. These simple food boxes and sweet baskets have become powerful tools of peace, showing that His love knows no boundaries. One mother said through tears, “I never imagined I would be so welcomed and cared for here. You have made this holiday truly sweet for us.”
But our work is not finished yet. We still need to reach 200 more families before the Feast of Trumpets begins. Each special holiday food box and sweet basket costs just $50, but its impact is far beyond measure. It communicates hope, dignity, and the reminder that someone sees them, someone cares, and that God Himself has not forgotten them.
As we continue this project, we invite you to stand with us in two ways:
- Pray for every family we encounter, that their hearts will be touched not only by the food they receive but by the love of Yeshua behind it.
- Give, if you are able, to help us reach those last 200 families. Together, we can ensure that they, too, enter this new year with sweetness, blessing, and hope.
