In the middle of these difficult days, we are also witnessing something deeply encouraging — moments where compassion and unity rise above fear.
Recently we delivered the first shipment of comfort kits to public shelters in Nof HaGalil. These kits include simple items like coffee, tea, cookies, cups, and electric kettles. For families spending long hours inside shelters during rocket alerts, even a small cup of hot coffee or tea can bring a sense of calm and normalcy.
When we delivered the first 50 sets, I was joined by my friend Ronen from the Nof HaGalil municipality. Ronen is Jewish, and I am Arab, and as we stood together loading these supplies for the shelters, we were reminded again that the reality here is very different from what is often portrayed in the media.
For many years now, we have worked together to help people in need across the community. Ronen shared something that deeply touched me. He said that whenever the municipality has reached out to us over the years, whether for families in need or for urgent situations, our team has always responded and stepped forward to help.
He expressed his sincere gratitude for the partnership and for the willingness of our community to serve others during such a difficult time.
Standing there together, we spoke about something that feels very important in these days. While the war tries to divide people through fear and tension, acts of kindness are building bridges instead. What began as cooperation between a Jewish municipal worker and an Arab pastor has grown into something much deeper — a sense that we are serving the same people, living in the same land, and caring for one another as one community.
These comfort kits are small, practical items. But they carry a bigger message: that even in the middle of war, love, dignity, and unity are still possible.
