In Haifa, a city shaped by diversity, beauty, and complexity, many people quietly carry heavy burdens. Needs are often hidden behind polite smiles, and suffering is learned to be endured in silence. It is into this space that God has opened a new door through our humanitarian aid center in Haifa—a place created not only to meet practical needs, but to reflect the heart of Jesus through presence, dignity, and love.
Recently, Pastor Saleem spent time with Fawzi, a dear friend we have been walking alongside through this new center. His story reflects why this place matters.
Fawzi’s mother, Teres, has been very ill for a long time. She has endured multiple strokes and now lives with Alzheimer’s. The journey has been exhausting and painful for their family. Yet when Fawzi spoke, his words were not filled with bitterness or complaint. Instead, he asked for prayer. He asked that his mother would be remembered and lifted up—that God would continue to sustain her and surround their family with mercy.
As Fawzi shared, he expressed deep gratitude for the Haifa center and for those who made it possible. He described something that goes beyond food packages or clothing: a sense of warmth, belonging, and togetherness that has been missing for many in the city.
“This place feels like a center for the people of Haifa,” he shared. “We’ve been missing this closeness, this care. To have something here, near us, makes such a difference. To come and receive help without being questioned, without feeling judged—only with love.”
These words speak to the heart of why this center exists.
For many families, elderly individuals, and homeless men and women, coming to Nazareth for help was difficult or impossible. The Haifa center brings compassion closer—into the neighborhoods, streets, and daily lives of those who need it most. It creates space for relationship, trust, and dignity. It allows the love of Jesus to be seen and felt before it is ever spoken.
What makes this story even more beautiful is that Fawzi is not only someone who receives. In his free time, he comes to volunteer and help others. This is the quiet fruit of love given freely—hearts begin to open, and people who were once helped now become helpers themselves.
As Pastor Saleem shared with him, this work in Haifa is still in its early days. Yet already, we are seeing how God uses simple obedience to bring lasting impact. The center is becoming a place of prayer, refuge, and restoration—serving both Arab and Jewish Israelis side by side, without distinction, in the name of Yeshua.
