Love in the Fire:
Arab Believers Reaching Out in Israel’s Time of Need

Our hearts are heavy as we write to you this week.

Israel is under fire, and so many innocent families—Jewish, Arab, and Muslim—are living in fear. Missiles fill the skies. Sirens wail in the night. Parents clutch their children, rushing to bomb shelters, unsure if they’ll have a home to return to when the danger passes.

In this painful hour, we as Arab believers in Yeshua feel a divine calling burning in our hearts: to stand in the gap, to be His hands and feet, and to pour out love where there is fear—to build bridges of compassion right in the middle of the fire.

We cannot stay silent. We cannot stand still. We are stepping out in faith to meet the urgent needs around us—and we are asking you to stand with us.

Mattresses for Families Sleeping Underground

We have already begun distributing mattresses to families taking refuge in communal bomb shelters in Nof HaGalil, in collaboration with their mayor and municipality. Our goal is to deliver a total of 300 mattresses, each costing just $23 (We found a great price!). Many are lying and sitting on cold concrete floors—single mothers and their children, elderly Holocaust survivors, and families who have nowhere else to turn.

A mattress may seem simple, but in this moment, it is an expression of dignity, of care, and of hope.

Food Baskets for the Hungry and Fearful

We are preparing to deliver 120 food baskets, filled with 18 long-lasting, non-perishable items tailored for bomb shelter life. Each basket costs $43, and every single one is a lifeline.

Families are too afraid to venture outside. Supermarkets are running out of certain supplies and are often too dangerous to reach with the ongoing missile attacks. These baskets bring more than food—they bring peace of mind. They whisper: “You are not forgotten.”

We long to provide more—but we can only go as far as your love and support will take us.

Electric Fans for Stifling Shelters

Can you imagine being packed in a windowless room with dozens of others, in the middle of a summer heatwave, with no airflow? This is the daily reality for many sheltering in Nazareth, Nof HaGalil, and Haifa.

We are working to distribute 200 electric fans at $35 each to bring some relief to these families. These are not luxuries. They are lifelines—helping children breathe easier, giving the elderly a reprieve from the heat, bringing comfort where it is desperately needed.

Coloring Books and Pencils for the Children

Children are the silent sufferers of war. They don’t always have words for their fear, but we see it in their eyes.

Messianic congregations across the country have reached out to us, asking for help to comfort the little ones. We’re preparing 300 sets of coloring books and pencil kits (around 30 NIS per set) to help children express themselves, to find calm, to just be kids—even in a shelter.

This simple act of kindness brings light into their darkness. It’s a message from the Church that says, “You are precious. You are loved. God sees you.”

Water for the Thirsty

Thanks to our amazing partners, we’ve already been able to distribute large quantities of water to families in need. In times of war, even basic necessities like clean drinking water become a challenge. You’ve helped us meet this need—and we’re so deeply grateful.

Let Us Not Grow Weary in Doing Good

Dear brothers and sisters, this is more than a humanitarian effort—it’s a spiritual calling. We are not just giving supplies. We are planting seeds of love, healing old wounds, and showing the world what it means for Arab believers to bless Israel in her time of greatest need.

Will you stand with us? Will you pray with us? Will you give with us?

Every gift you sow, every prayer you lift, is making an eternal difference. Together, we are writing a new story for this land—a story of reconciliation, of compassion, and of God’s unshakable love.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us.

In deep gratitude and hope,
Pastor Saleem Shalash
