This past weekend was a wonderful time of celebration at Home of Jesus the King Church, as we lifted up the name of Jesus on Good Friday and Palm Sunday. During the whole of last week, our members took time to prepare the church building for this weekend’s festivities by decorating the church’s exterior with palm branches and banners, as well as the church’s interior with beautiful decorations reminiscent of the Lord’s death and resurrection.

Our children were thrilled to be a part of the celebrations and performed a number of songs onstage for the whole of the congregation. They were having a ton of fun, worshipping and lifting up the name of Jesus. Even the adults in the crowd joined in with singing and dancing!

As you can see in the video, our stage was decorated with both palm and olive branches. The palm branches symbolize victory, as seen from the time of the Maccabees when they purified and cleaned the temple with palm branches, to the time when Jesus entered Jerusalem and was greeted with shouts of “Hosanna” and palm branches being laid in his path. Incidentally, the first thing Jesus did after He entered Jerusalem was clean the temple from money lenders and merchants.

Pastor Saleem also took time to blow the shofar during our Palm Sunday service, thereby proclaiming the Lord’s victory and the day when He will return triumphantly to Jerusalem as the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
