We had a wonderful time together at Home of Jesus the King Church, celebrating Palm Sunday this past weekend. It was such a special moment for our team and congregation as we reflected on the beauty and power of this season.
Palm Sunday is one of those moments in the year that always feels extra meaningful. It’s not just a memory of Jesus riding into Jerusalem—it’s a celebration of His victory, His kingship, and His deep love for us.
Did you know that even the palm branches people waved had a special meaning? Back in the time of the Maccabees, palm branches were used to cleanse the temple. So when people waved them for Jesus, they were actually declaring something powerful—that He came to purify and restore what belongs to God.
And that’s exactly what Jesus did. The first thing He did after entering Jerusalem was to cleanse the temple. Today, the Bible tells us that we are God’s temples. That means the same way Jesus wanted the temple in Jerusalem to be clean and holy, He wants our hearts to be ready and pure for Him too.
This season is such a good reminder to check our hearts. Are we holding on to sin, anger, or unforgiveness? Are we drifting away from God or holding back in some way? It’s time to let go of the things that weigh us down and get closer to Him again—through prayer, reading His Word, and spending time in His presence.
Things in Israel are really tough right now. The war has affected everyone, and people are struggling. Even in the church, there are challenges we face every day. But we believe that now, more than ever, God is calling us to be the light, to be ready, and to walk in love.
And let’s not forget—Jesus told us to love our enemies. That’s not easy, especially when people have hurt us or when there’s tension all around. But how can we love our enemies if we don’t even love our brothers and sisters in the faith?
Here at Home of Jesus the King, we’re doing our best to heal broken relationships between Arabs and Jews, to live out the love of Jesus in practical ways, and to prepare our hearts for His return. It’s not always easy—but we know it’s worth it.
As we head into Passover and Easter, we want to wish you a season filled with freedom, healing, and resurrection life. May the Lamb who set Israel free and conquered death fill your heart with peace, joy, and hope.
Let’s keep waving our palm branches—not just with our hands, but with our lives.
