As the cold months approach here in Israel, the Home of Jesus the King Church family is working with all our strength to prepare for winter. In our humanitarian aid center, the atmosphere is buzzing with activity—boxes piled high, clothes sorted into every corner, volunteers moving quickly from one task to another. It may look messy to an outside eye, but to us, this is the beauty of service in action.
Every item (brand new and good quality) that passes through our hands carries a story. There are jackets to keep children warm on their way to school, blankets for elderly couples who live alone, and sturdy shoes for men and women walking through difficult seasons of life. We carefully separate everything—by age, by gender, by season—because we want to give with dignity and respect. No one is just a number here. Each person is seen, valued, and loved.
Our women volunteers form the heartbeat of this ministry.
Day after day, they give their time and strength, packing and repacking with joy. Their laughter and greetings echo through the room, and today they even paused in their work to wave and say a cheerful “hello” to you—our friends and partners around the world. They know that without your prayers and support, none of this would be possible.
This is now our second day of beginning work at 6 a.m. Even in the weariness, there is a sense of joy because we know why we are doing this. As Pastor Saleem shared, “Thank you, because what you’re doing is helping us to shine in these difficult days.” Truly, when we work together as one body, the light of Jesus shines brightest in the darkness.
Our younger volunteers are also stepping up.
Solomon, Pastor Saeleem’s son and one of our faithful helpers, smiled as he admitted he was “very tired” from the early mornings. But he still showed up to serve, because love compels him—just as it compels all of us. These moments remind us that the Gospel is not only preached with words, but lived out through actions of compassion and kindness. Every box of clothing, every blanket, every pair of shoes becomes a testimony of God’s faithfulness and care.
Winter in Israel can be harsh, especially for those who are vulnerable—single mothers, new immigrants, the elderly, and families already weighed down by financial burdens. But we believe that through this ministry, God is providing a covering of warmth, not just physically, but spiritually as well.
