Our humanitarian projects form a fundamental platform for demonstrating and sharing the love of Jesus with the people of Israel. It has been said that people don’t care how much or what you know until they know how much you care. Nowhere is this more evident than in Israel, as internal conflict has created many rifts in Israeli society over the years.
Our work in blessing Arabs, Jews, and traditional Christians in Israel has served to build bridges of love and to sow the Gospel message into the lives of people. The language of love that we speak through our projects is universal and understandable by all, and this love that we represent is the love of the one, true Lord of all—Jesus Christ.
Our focus for this month is to be a blessing during some of the most important religious festivals to the people of Israel. For the Jews it is Passover, for the Muslims it is Ramadan, and for Christians it is Easter. We will be providing food boxes to needy families from among all of these demographics, and sharing the unconditional love of the Messiah of Israel and the message of salvation, as it is God’s desire for all of mankind to be saved. “He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” – 2 Peter 3:9
In addition to the food boxes, we’ll also be providing cookie mixes for the children to enjoy traditional date cookies for the religious holidays. These particular cookies can be quite expensive to prepare, but we felt that the Lord wanted to show children in need how much He loves them through these sweat treats.
These cookies come with molds to bake the cookies in the shape of the crown of thorns, as well as the stone rolled away from Jesus’ grave. The sweet date filling of the cookies represents the goodness that came from the events of Jesus’ crucifixion and His resurrection, providing us with the newness of life and salvation.
We have thus far prepared 60 food boxes to deliver to families, but we need to provide at least another 100 food boxes. We, unfortunately, don’t have the budget for these additional holiday food boxes, but if you, your home group, or your church would like to sponsor one or more families at $25 a box, then you are most welcome!
