When Jesus Touches What the Enemy Has Bound —
A Devotional with Pastor Saleem

We live in days of uncertainty, darkness, and spiritual pressure. All around us, people are burdened—by fear, by hardship, by oppression both seen and unseen. Yet in the middle of it all, there is a powerful truth that brings us hope: Jesus still lays His hand on the broken, and He still sets people free.

In Luke 13:11–13, we read the story of a woman who had been crippled for 18 years—not by disease, but by what Jesus called a spirit of infirmity. For nearly two decades, she walked bent over, unable to lift her head. But one encounter with Jesus changed everything:

“And when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, ‘Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.’ And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.”

Luke 13:12–13

This was not just a physical healing. It was a spiritual deliverance. Jesus didn’t treat her condition as merely a health issue—He saw the deeper source: a spiritual bondage that had held her down for far too long.

Sometimes we face issues that seem unchangeable—patterns, fears, or burdens that we carry for years. And like that woman, we may become accustomed to living bowed down. But God never intended for us to live that way. Jesus came to lift our heads, to break chains, and to restore us—spirit, soul, and body.

Notice what He did: He called her, He spoke to her, and He touched her. Maybe no one had touched her in a long time. Maybe she had been overlooked and forgotten. But Jesus knew exactly what she needed.

What About You?

What burden have you carried for too long?

What lie of the enemy has kept you bowed low?

This is not the time to shrink back in fear. This is the time to pray boldly. Not to fight the enemy in your own strength, but to say, “Lord, rebuke every evil spirit in my life. Lay Your hand upon me and make me whole.”

Jesus still delivers. He still heals. He still lifts up the broken. And He still uses His people to carry His light into the darkest places.

Called to Be a Light

Even as we seek healing and freedom in our own lives, we’re also called to be a light to others—to bring cold water to the thirsty, comfort to the weary, and hope to the hurting. As we are reminded, even a cup of water given in Jesus’ name is never forgotten by God (Matthew 10:42). Every small act of love matters—on earth and in heaven.

Being a light isn’t always easy. Sometimes you may feel like the “black sheep” for standing in truth. But remember: God uses those who are willing to swim against the current. The strongest fish swim upstream—and the strongest believers do too.

Let’s Be Bridge Builders

In a divided world, let us be those who stand in the gap—between communities, cultures, and hearts. Let us be the “slice of cheese” between two pieces of bread, holding things together with the love of Christ.

So today, before you step out the door, pray:

  • “Lord, rebuke every evil spirit assigned against me and around me.”
  • “Fill me with Your light, so I can shine for You.”
  • “Use me to bring peace, healing, and unity wherever I go.”

And remember: Jesus hasn’t stopped touching lives—and He hasn’t forgotten you.

Amen!
