There are many who come through our humanitarian aid center in Nazareth each month carrying visible needs—food, practical support, help for daily life. Yet time and again, we are reminded that behind what is seen, there is something far deeper: a quiet hunger of the heart that only the Lord can satisfy. Ministry is never only about meeting physical needs; it is about creating space for people to encounter the living presence of God in a personal and transformative way.
Recently, we witnessed one of those moments that stays with you long after it happens. A dear woman named Miriam has been visiting our center faithfully each month. She comes with humility and quiet strength, navigating the challenges of daily life with courage. Miriam is blind, and for many years this has shaped her world—how she moves, how she depends on others, and even how she longs to connect with the Word of God.
During one of our conversations, she opened her heart and shared something deeply personal. One of her greatest desires, she said, was simply to be able to read and study the Bible for herself. There was something so sincere in the way she spoke—you could feel that this was not just a wish, but a longing that had lived quietly within her for a long time. For many of us, opening the Scriptures is something we do without a second thought. But for Miriam, it felt like a door that had always remained closed.
In that moment, I felt the Lord place a simple truth on my heart.
I gently told her, “Even if your eyes cannot read the pages, your heart can still receive every word.” We offered her an audio Bible in Arabic, so she could listen, absorb, and encounter God’s Word in a way that was fully accessible to her. At first, she seemed surprised—as if she had never imagined that this could be possible. And then, suddenly, her eyes filled with tears.
They were not tears of sadness, but of deep joy. In that moment, something shifted. It was no longer just about receiving a resource—it was about realizing that God had not overlooked her, that His Word was not beyond her reach, that she, too, could sit in His presence and hear His voice. As Scripture says,
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”
Romans 10:17
For Miriam, that truth became real in a new and powerful way.
It brought to mind the words of Yeshua:
“I have come into this world so that the blind will see”
John 9:39
Sometimes blindness is physical, yet there are many who see with their eyes but are still searching in darkness. And often, those who cannot see physically are the very ones whose hearts are most open to the light of God.
Today, Miriam is listening to the Bible regularly in Arabic.
She is discovering the Scriptures not as something distant, but as something alive and personal. Each time she returns to the center, there is a new joy in her spirit—a quiet radiance that comes from encountering God’s Word for herself. The place where she once came only for practical help has now become a place where her soul is being nourished and her faith is growing.
This is why we continue. This is why your prayers and support matter so deeply. Every act of kindness—every food package, every conversation, every moment of care—can become a doorway to something eternal.
